Born in Dublin in 1974, Justin has worked full time as an artist since leaving the University of Ulster, recently returning home after several years living in Connemara and exploring the Irish landscape, a theme which has recently dominated his painting subject. A self taught painter, Justin’s imaginative style of artwork is instantly recognisable. Exhibiting mainly in Northern Ireland, his paintings have found homes in private collections around the globe. With an approach to painting to simply create a three dimensional image on a flat surface, his artwork comprises two contrasting themes; rhythmical Irish landscapes and colourful French themed paintings both of which are soft and vibrant in colour and detailed in content.
“My painting style requires much patience and concentration using an old technique of under laying colours on canvas until the final smooth and aesthetically fine paint finish can be achieved, the simple line drawings that compose my paintings become careful blends of colour through tonal graduations that give an impression of shadows and distance, everything is painted in a very controlled and precise manner”.
