Heather Byrne

Heather Byrne brings an emotive feeling of being there in the moment, as her paintings pulls you in to atmospheric shorelines and dusk skies. Her studio paintings draw directly from en plein air sketchbooks and studies made throughout the year. Heather works with fluid layers of colour in loose expressive marks, keeping hold of the energy in her sketchbooks.

After a career as a graphic designer, Heather made a shift from design and exhibited paintings at the Talented Art Fair in London in 2020. Since then she has developed as an artist, painting full time, and in 2023 her two paintings ‘Plums in blue bowl’ and ‘Cloud Shift’ were selected, exhibited and sold at the Royal Ulster Academy Annual Exhibition. Heather’s attention to line and shape in her still life paintings are indicators of her design background.

Heather is based near Castlerock, on the north coast of Northern Ireland, and works from her home studio.
