From his beloved book, Walden—a record of his communion with nature, confrontation with the "essential facts of life," and quest for enlightenment. Thoreau exalted nature and eschewed formal religion, and his pursuit of simplicity was at once practical and spiritual.

To visually capture the spirit of Thoreau's words, we reimagined the dense crossing branches in the deep woods as pointed Gothic arches. Gothic architecture—characterized by soaring spaces and elegant symmetry—was structured to inspire awe, to draw one’s attention up and to create a sense of weightlessness. Spend some time alone in the woods, and it becomes clear from where the architects drew their inspiration.

Frame Details: We use sustainable wooden frames and glass, not fibreboard and acrylic which typically you find in 'off the shelf' frames. Unlike acrylic, glass does not lose its clarity over time and can be easily and safely cleaned. We have been successfully shipping ready to hang frames containing glass since we opened in 2005. There are two finishes to choose from: black or white.

Packaging Details: We go to great lengths to ensure that your purchase arrives in perfect condition. We only use sturdy cardboard postal tubes and double walled cardboard boxes. We use as much recycled and recyclable material as possible, including newspapers from our coffee shop, Coffee Yard, to pack our boxes.
