Lyn Majury

Lyn paints mainly in acrylics and enjoys both colour and texture. She paint subjects that interest her and is keen to depict changes in the environment. More recently she has looked back into local and family history for inspiration. Sometimes text is included which relates to the object painted. An example of this can be seen in ‘1949 canned in New York’ in this case it makes the Cantrell and Cochrane connection between Belfast and New York. She also enjoys putting together collections of objects to create still life paintings - Cezanne and Brian Ballard being her greatest influences in this area. Lyn is currently part of a small group of artists (5 in all) who call themselves ‘The Recessionists’. They aim to provide affordable art in hard times.
