Mary-Ann Hodgen

Mary-Ann Hodgen is from Belfast, Northern Ireland. She studied art and education at Warwick University and specialised in sculpture and painting. She moved back to Northern Ireland in 1995 and took up a teaching post in a local primary school. She has continued to paint and exhibit her work which includes the Royal Ulster Academy annual exhibition.  She now lives in Co. Down with her husband, two children and pet dog. Her paintings are inspired by living by the sea and time spent holidaying in Donegal. “I have always been mesmerised by the sunlight caught on the waves and dramatic changes of light and dark in the sky.” Working from sketches and photographs when out walking, she completes paintings in oil in the studio.
