Jan 2026 - Gel Printing Workshop With Janice Stevenson

New to Yard Gallery!

Gel printing is suitable for all ages and abilities. It makes mark making easy and the results are often surprising, whether you like abstracts, nature or still life, you will have great fun.

Discover the magic of gel printing - a wonderfully accessible form of monoprinting, which means every single piece you create is completely one-of-a-kind! No heavy printing press needed... just a soft, flexible gel plate that makes creating beautiful artworks, enjoyable, simple and instant.

Janice will explain and demonstrate the basic process and techniques, guiding you through every step. You'll learn how to roll out a thin layer of water-based paint, experiment with blending colours directly on the plate to create beautiful transitions, and discover how different tools and materials can create very different results. Whether you're drawn to abstract compositions, atmospheric landscapes, or detailed nature-inspired designs, there are endless directions to explore - and often the most unexpected outcomes or happy accidents turn out to be the most interesting!

You can experiment with:

• Colour blending & layering - watch how colours interact and combine in unexpected ways

• Nature printing - using leaves and foliage to capture delicate natural textures

• Stencils & Masks - creating shapes and patterns from your own unique designs

• Ghost prints - discovering what remains on the plate after your first pull!

The prints you create are wonderfully versatile - perfect for art journaling, collage work, card making, mixed media projects, or framing and displaying as beautiful artwork in their own right. Every single one is unique, and you'll leave with a new skill and a diverse selection of your own original pieces ready to enjoy or inspire your future creations.
