Justine held her first solo exhibition ‘The Nude Series’ inspired by Velasquez and Modigliani, at Sanctuary Beauty; Belfast in 2001. Brian Eakin of the Eakin Gallery; Belfast had this comment to make in response to the work "Justine is one of the most exciting artists to appear on the local scene in many years. Her current series of nudes painted in a refreshingly naturalistic style, demonstrates an aesthetic perception of the human form and places her high on the list of current young artists."

In 2002 Justine worked as part of a 3 person collective and together they celebrated a successful sell-out exhibition at Holywood library. Also during this year Justine produced both landscape and architectural work together with her first spontaneous symbolism paintings. In April 2004 Justine started The Young Artists Group and since this time her work has been influenced by their instinctive creativity. The group continues to run during the school term time in Holywood Library. Justine is a committee member of the Arts Society of Ulster and is also an artist with the Arts Council; Creative Youth Partnership, which involves visiting schools, colleges and youth groups to run creative art projects based specifically around painting and clay modeling. Justine has been a member of Tom Kerr’s art group since September 2001 and has been greatly influenced by his tuition, painting demonstrations and exhibitions.
