Sam Mateer RUA (1951-2010)

Born in Belfast in 1951, Sam Mateer attended the Northern Ireland College of Art, York Street, Belfast graduating with a Diploma in Art and Design (Fine Art) in 1974 and with an Art Teachers Dipolma in 1975. In 1988 he founded the Pastel Society of Ireland and gave many lectures and demonstrations throughout Ireland on Pastel Painting. Sam Mateer's paintings are to be found in the collections of Marks and Spencers, D.O.E.N.I, Belfast City Council and many private throughout Ireland, Britain, U.S.A., Canada and Australia.
